The steps involved in the selection process for Police Officer are listed below. Please note that a review of applicants/candidates will occur at each stage, and only invited candidates will proceed to the next step. (The order of some steps may be rearranged to accommodate the most efficient or effective scheduling.)
1) The application packet, including:
a) Written application and questionnaire.
b) Authorizations for release of information.
c) Authorization to obtain credit or consumer information.
d) Copies of high school diploma, Ohio Peace Officer certification, driver’s license, and DD Form 214 (if applicable).certification, driver’s license, and DD Form 214 (if applicable).
e) Completed packets must be returned by TBA. Late applications will not be considered.
2) Basic physical fitness/physical agility test.
3) Oral interview with assessment panel.
4) Comprehensive background investigation.
5) Drug screen.
6) Psychological evaluation.
7) Polygraph examination.
8) The second interview (if deemed necessary).
9) Conditional offer of employment.

The Woodlawn Police Division reserves the right to repost this position if it deems that an insufficient number of qualified candidates have applied. Once an eligibility list is established, it will remain in effect for twelve months and may be extended to twenty-four months at the discretion of the Chief of Police. While on the eligibility list, candidates are expected to keep their information updated with the Woodlawn Police Division and report any new information which may enhance or detract from their suitability for employment. Any candidate not hired for the first vacancy during the process may be required to update and confirm any information in writing and resubmit to completion of one or more stages in the application and selection process.
